Internet Marketing Pitfall - 5 Tips to Avoid Information Overload
Being an internet marketer can be one of the most rewarding career choices available, due to the never-ending list of possible routes to choose. Anything can be sold to anyone, in any time zone internationally. Of course, with all these possibilities theres also a big downside ” too much data = information overload.
This constant mind changing and lack of direction is due to too much data being available on different subjects, and wanting to know and practice all of it. The trouble is ” the marketers who promote the information and learning courses are very skilled at making you want to buy their product above every one else’s, convincing you that you were never on track, and they hold the real secrets. This process, and resulting effects is simply known as information overload.
If you suffer from this common disorder among internet marketers, try taking these steps to put an end to the symptoms:
1. Learn something and take action right away: Don’t get caught in the trap of thinking you need to know everything about Internet marketing before you start taking action. When you learn something new, apply what you’ve learned before moving onto the next idea.
2.) Mistakes are your friend. Huh? Makes no sense right? Trust me, most people who have made it in internet marketing (or any field in fact) will tell you they made a ton of mistakes before they saw success. Any who doesn’t admit to it are probably not telling the truth. Making mistakes is part of the process of treading the path to success. For this reason, always learn from your mistakes, dust yourself and keep on going.
3.) Learn like a sponge. When you apply yourself to a new course, or attend a seminar, absorb as much info as you can, but know that you don’t need to master (or even practice) every facet the information teaches. Remember there is only so much one individual or one business can do, or specialize on. Try to get the big picture when learning a new method. The details can come later ” after you have begun to take action.
4.) Guard your emails. Put a stop to those distracting emails that somehow make you buy more products. Unsubscribe to every mailing list that you KNOW is no use to you on your current journey. Only keep the ones that offer real value, and remember that no matter how good a product is (or promises to be) if it has nothing to do with you’re current business plan then it is only a distraction, will get in your way and probably cost you.
5.) Resist those hypnotizing sales letters and emails. Don’t buy any more products! No matter how much hype surrounds it, whoever recommends it, or how essential you think it’s going to be ” leave it alone, at least until you know 100% that it is needed for growing your business.
It’s very easy to become overloaded when trying to carve a career in internet marketing. But trust me ” you’re not alone. The answer is simple (and it’s not buying another ebook). Focus on one thing, and one thing only until you’re proficient at it. Remove all distractions, and ignore those shiny objects ” they will only prevent your success in the long run.
